Vitality close out IEM Cologne 2026 Quarterfinal 1 with a 2-1 series win over Aurora on June 17 evening. ZywOo finished the series with a 1.44 series rating — the highest QF-opener rating since donk's 1.49 at PGL Copenhagen 2024.
Map 1: Mirage 13-9 Vitality
Vitality's T-side Mirage opened with a ZywOo opening pick on A-site ramp first round. Vitality closed the half 9-3 on the T-side after a flawless mid-control execute on round five. Aurora's CT-side Mirage in the second half pulled the gap back to 9-7 on three consecutive force-buys, but Vitality closed out 13-9 on a maj3r-vs-ZywOo 1v1 AWP duel that ZywOo won with a B-site connector pre-fire.
Map 2: Mirage 13-11 Aurora (Aurora pick was Inferno, not Mirage — they ran it back)
Aurora's second-map pick was Inferno, but Vitality's first three rounds T-side dominance (3-0 start) forced Aurora into desperation eco play. Aurora pulled level at 6-6 after a halftime maj3r 1v3 clutch on banana. Aurora closed out 13-11 with a maj3r CT-side B-site 1v1 clutch in round 24 — the play of the QF1 series. The clutch put Aurora at match-point 12-11 and they closed on the next round.
Decider: Ancient 13-7 Vitality
Vitality's decider Ancient opened with a ropz CT-side opening kill on B-cave that set up a 9-3 half. Aurora's T-side Ancient in the second half opened 4-0 to threaten the read at 9-7, but Vitality closed the next four rounds with apEX taking over B-site retake duty alongside ropz. The series closed 13-7 on a ZywOo A-site default-defence quad-kill.
What this means
Vitality advance to SF1 on June 19 against the QF2 winner (NAVI or Spirit). The Vitality holo extended +24% in the 30 minutes after the series close. Aurora exit at the QF stage but maj3r's player-gold jumped from $48 to $72 mean across tier-1 marketplaces on the back of his MVP-tier individual numbers (Mirage 1v1 clutch carried the move).
