CS2 Dead Hand Update: 17 New Skins, 22 Gloves, and a New Weekly Drop Terminal

CS2 Dead Hand Update: 17 New Skins, 22 Gloves, and a New Weekly Drop Terminal

Valve has released a major content update for Counter-Strike 2, introducing the Dead Hand Collection — a new terminal packed with 17 community-designed weapon skins and 22 Valve-designed glove finishes. The update dropped on March 11, 2026, and the new terminal is already shaking up the skin market.

What's in the Dead Hand Terminal

The Sealed Dead Hand Terminal follows the format established by the previous Genesis Terminal. It contains:

  • 17 weapon skins — all community-designed, each available in StatTrak variants
  • 22 glove finishes — designed by Valve, non-StatTrak only

The collection spans a wide range of weapon types including SMGs, shotguns, machine guns, and rifles. The design aesthetic leans darker and more tactical, with bold color accents that stand out in-game.

Standout Skins

Several skins from the collection have already caught the community's eye:

  • AWP | Queen's Gambit — luxurious golden engravings across the body with blue decorative elements on the scope and barrel. Already one of the most sought-after skins in the collection.
  • P250 | Kintsugi — inspired by the Japanese art of repairing cracked ceramics with gold. The pistol features a light-toned body with golden lines, waves, and a crane illustration. A beautiful example of cultural design meeting CS2 skins.

How to Get Dead Hand Items

Unlike traditional cases that require a key purchase, the Dead Hand Terminal is part of CS2's weekly drop system. Here's how it works:

  • Weekly drops: Every CS2 player receives one guaranteed drop per week. The Sealed Dead Hand Terminal can now appear as that drop.
  • Steam Community Market: Terminals and individual skins can be bought and sold on the market.
  • Third-party marketplaces: As with all CS2 items, Dead Hand skins are tradeable on external platforms.

This makes the Dead Hand Collection more accessible than case-exclusive collections, since players don't need to buy keys to access the skins — just play the game and hope for a lucky drop.

22 New Gloves

The glove additions are arguably the bigger story for skin enthusiasts. With 22 new finishes, this is one of the largest single glove drops in CS2 history. Gloves remain among the most premium cosmetic items in the game, and the Dead Hand variants bring fresh options for players looking to complete their loadout without relying on the existing case pool.

All glove finishes are Valve-designed and available exclusively through the Dead Hand Terminal — they cannot be obtained from any other source.

Market Impact

The addition of the Dead Hand Terminal to the weekly drop pool has immediate market implications. Genesis Terminal prices may face downward pressure as the drop pool is now split between two terminals. Meanwhile, early Dead Hand skin prices are volatile as the market establishes fair values for the new items.

For traders and collectors, the first few weeks after a new collection launch are typically the most dynamic — prices tend to start high and gradually settle as supply increases through weekly drops.

Community Reception

The community response has been largely positive, with particular praise for the quality of community-designed skins and the continued expansion of the glove pool. The weekly drop format also gets approval from players who prefer earning skins through gameplay rather than case openings.

The Dead Hand update continues Valve's recent trend of supporting community skin designers while expanding CS2's cosmetic ecosystem beyond the traditional case model.
