FaZe Clan Miss First Major Since 2016 — karrigan Calls It 'The Lowest Point of My Career'

In what may be the most significant competitive setback in the organization's Counter-Strike history, FaZe Clan have failed to qualify for the IEM Cologne Major 2026. This marks the first time FaZe will miss a Major since the organization entered Counter-Strike in 2016.

How It Happened

FaZe had their destiny in their own hands heading into the final day of HLC Belgrade PRO. In the grand final against BIG, karrigan delivered one of his career-best performances on the opening map — posting a 2.32 rating on Dust2. But it wasn't enough.

A narrow 11-13 loss on Overpass gave way to a devastating 3-13 collapse on Anubis, ending FaZe's Major dreams in the most painful way possible — coming agonizingly close before falling apart on the final map.

karrigan's Response

FaZe's legendary IGL Finn "karrigan" Andersen didn't hold back in his reaction: "Rough months incoming but I never gave up at any point these months, but this is the lowest point of my career."

The statement carries enormous weight. karrigan held the record for the most Major appearances in Counter-Strike history — a streak that will now end. Vitality's apEX is set to take over that record at IEM Cologne.

A Season of Decline

The Major miss caps a catastrophic spring for FaZe:

  • BLAST Rotterdam: Eliminated in groups by TYLOO
  • PGL Bucharest: Forfeited opening match, eliminated 0-3
  • HLC Belgrade: Grand final loss to BIG, ending Major hopes
  • HLTV Ranking: Dropped outside the top 10

Since ropz's departure to Vitality, FaZe have struggled to find a consistent identity. The roster that once won the Antwerp Major and dominated the scene now can't qualify for CS2's biggest events.

What's Next

FaZe still have IEM Rio starting April 13, but without Major qualification on the line, the stakes are purely about pride and ranking recovery. The bigger question is whether this results in roster changes — something that has been speculated for weeks but now feels inevitable.

For karrigan, the clock is ticking. At 31 years old, missing a Major could accelerate retirement discussions. But if his Belgrade performance showed anything, it's that the desire to compete at the highest level hasn't diminished — only the results around him have.
