FUT Esports Win PGL Bucharest 2026 — Steamroll Astralis 3-1 in the Grand Final

FUT Esports are the PGL Bucharest 2026 champions. The Turkish-Bulgarian squad capped a perfect 7-0 tournament run with a dominant 3-1 grand final victory over Astralis on Sunday, April 11, taking home $500,000 and their first ever tier-1 trophy. It was as one-sided as a grand final gets — so much so that Hotspawn called it a "steamroll" and joked you'd be forgiven for thinking Vitality were in the server.

Semifinals: Two Clean Sweeps

Before the final, both semifinal series on Saturday were surprisingly short. Astralis dispatched 3DMAX 2-0, reversing the head-to-head record from PGL Cluj-Napoca earlier this year. On the other side of the bracket, FUT continued their rampage with a convincing 2-0 sweep over The MongolZ, ending the Mongolian Cinderella story that had captivated the tournament since their 3-9 comeback against PARIVISION in the quarterfinals.

The third-place match between 3DMAX and The MongolZ went to the full three maps, with 3DMAX securing the bronze.

Grand Final: FUT 3-1 Astralis

The best-of-five grand final was supposed to be the closest match of the event. Instead, FUT put on a clinic. After dropping their map pick Ancient 5-13 in the opener — the only map they lost all tournament — Astralis never recovered.

  • Map 1 (Ancient): FUT 13-5 Astralis — FUT's T-side was flawless, with executes that looked rehearsed for months
  • Map 2 (Mirage): FUT 13-5 Astralis — Astralis' CT-side crumbled under FUT's aggressive map control
  • Map 3 (Nuke): FUT 13-8 Astralis — Astralis showed fight but couldn't close the gap
  • Map 4 (Dust2): FUT 13-3 Astralis — The most dominant map of the series sealed the trophy

MVP: cmtry

cmtry was named the tournament MVP, becoming the first FUT player ever to win an HLTV top-tier MVP award. The young rifler was the statistical leader for FUT throughout the playoff stage, combining a high impact rating with consistent opening duels. Krabeni, FUT's star entry fragger, was the more flashy player on the highlight reels, but cmtry was the quiet engine that made everything work.

What This Means

FUT's victory is the biggest upset win of the 2026 CS2 season so far. They entered the tournament ranked outside the HLTV top 15 and leave it with a tier-1 trophy, $500,000, and a massive ranking boost heading into the IEM Cologne Major qualifier window. Veteran IGL MAJ3R has been building rosters for nearly a decade, and this is the biggest win of his career.

For Astralis, the runner-up finish is still their best result of 2026, but the manner of the grand final loss will sting. Device and Ryu were both below their usual levels across the four maps, and the team will need to regroup before IEM Rio starts on April 13.
