The event runs January 31 - February 15, 2027 at the Spodek Arena in Katowice, Poland. Prize pool: $500K. The format follows the established 24-team Swiss → 8-team playoff structure.
The format
- Stage 1 (Jan 31 - Feb 6): 24-team Swiss bracket. Top 8 advance to playoffs. Played in the Katowice International Conference Centre (closed venue, no live audience).
- Playoffs (Feb 11-15): 8-team single-elimination bracket at the Spodek Arena. Quarterfinals Feb 11-12, semifinals Feb 13, Grand Final Feb 15.
- Grand Final: Bo5 format (the first non-Major Grand Final to use Bo5 in CS2 — typically Bo3 outside Majors).
Why Katowice 2027 matters
IEM Katowice has been the kickoff tournament of every annual CS2 cycle since 2014. The Spodek Arena
The Spodek Arena is the traditional Katowice home — 11,500-seat venue that has hosted IEM Katowice events since 2014. The arena will undergo renovation between September 2026 and December 2026 ahead of the 2027 event: new LED-wall installation, broadcast desk redesign (10-camera array, isolated team rooms), and acoustic treatment for the audience stand to reduce sound bleed into player headsets.
