Aurora Gaming finished the IEM Cologne Major 2026 in the semifinals, tied for 3rd-4th with Team Spirit. It's the best-ever result by a Turkish-anchored CS organization at a Valve Major, and it was largely built on the shoulders of one of the oldest active superstars in the game.

Aurora's Cologne roster leaned on Turkish veteran Ísmailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş, supported by international pieces that gelled through Stage 2 and Stage 3.

FURIA's 2-0 sweep on Dust2 (13-9) and Nuke (13-4) was a reality check. Aurora had no answers, and KSCERATO/yuurih took over. But finishing top-4 at the Major is the kind of result that changes an organization's trajectory.
Prize Take
$80,000 for Aurora, plus the VRS boost, plus the sticker sales bump. The organization built by former Turkey esports figures now has a Major top-4 result to sell to sponsors and investors.
Turkish CS's Moment
Aurora's semifinal join Space Soldiers' 2018 quarterfinal appearance as the highest points in Turkish Counter-Strike history. XANTARES has been the through-line of both eras.
