The final day of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 3 on June 15 ended the Swiss format phase with heartbreak for one of Counter-Strike's biggest names. G2 Esports defeated NAVI 2-1 to grab the eighth and final playoff berth at the LANXESS Arena.
The Deciding Match
NAVI and G2 met with everything on the line. Both had entered the day at 2-2 records, and only one could advance. The Ukrainian side started strongly, taking the first map. But G2 rallied, winning the second in composed fashion and then dragging NAVI into a decider that G2 controlled from midway through.
NAVI's Elimination
The loss ended NAVI's Cologne Major run at 2-3. While their record 24th straight Major appearance survived (they qualified through Stage 2), a playoff appearance had eluded them. It was another difficult chapter for a rebuilding squad still searching for its next great era.
Other 2-2 Deciders
MongolZ and FUT also fell in their must-win matches, ending their tournaments at 2-3. Three teams — MongolZ, FUT, and NAVI — reached the final day with a chance and all three went home.
