Valve officially launched the Cologne 2026 Viewer Pass on May 21, 2026, one day before the full IEM Cologne 2026 Major Hub went live. The pass introduces a token-based economy replacing the traditional sticker capsule system.
Two versions available
- Standard Pass: $9.99 — grants Bronze Cologne 2026 Major Challenge Coin
- Bundle Pass: $18.00 — includes the pass plus 900 bonus tokens
The Bronze coin progression
Activating either version immediately unlocks the Bronze Cologne 2026 Major Challenge Coin. Correct Pick'Em predictions upgrade the coin through Silver, Gold, and Diamond tiers. Each tier upgrade grants 300 tokens that can be spent on stickers or souvenir crafting.
The new token economy
Tokens replace the CS:GO-era capsule model entirely. The exchange rate starts at 100 tokens for $0.99, effectively $1 per 100 tokens. Players can buy tokens directly, earn them through Pick'Em, or receive them through pass upgrades.
Dynamic pricing
Sticker prices in the new Major Shop are not fixed. They fluctuate based on player demand, meaning a popular Vitality gold sticker will cost more tokens than a less-picked competitor. A price protection window refunds the difference automatically if a sticker's price drops more than 25 tokens within 24 hours of purchase.
What's included with the pass
- Bronze Challenge Coin with upgrade path to Diamond
- Pick'Em Challenge access for all three Cologne stages
- Access to token store for sticker and souvenir purchases
- Souvenir-O-Matic access to craft custom souvenirs
The community response
Reception was mixed on launch day. Fans welcomed the death of RNG capsules but questioned the dynamic pricing model, worrying that popular stickers would become prohibitively expensive during peak match moments. Others pointed out that the Bundle Pass's math worked out favorably: $18 for $9.99 in pass value plus 900 tokens (worth $8.91).
