Team Falcons booked their place in the IEM Cologne Major 2026 grand final with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Team Spirit on June 20. The semifinal featured overtime on multiple maps and elevated m0NESY's tournament to legendary status.
Map 1: Anubis — Falcons 16-14 OT
The opening map was Falcons' pick, Anubis. m0NESY opened the series with a triple kill and looked in vintage form throughout. But Spirit refused to fold — donk and sh1ro both had multikill rounds that kept the map on a knife's edge. Anubis eventually decided in Falcons' favor 16-14 in overtime, with the Danish/Bosnian/Russian side edging the closing rounds.
Map 2: Mirage — Spirit 13-8
Falcons started Mirage on fire, taking an 8-1 lead in the first half. But Spirit made adjustments, and after halftime the map completely turned. Spirit's second half was one of the best halves of the tournament, and they closed the map 13-8 to force a decider.
Map 3: The Decider
The third map went to Falcons in another tight contest. m0NESY was the top fragger of the entire series, and karrigan's calls in critical rounds were textbook. Spirit fought to the end but ran out of solutions.
The Superstar Duel
The m0NESY vs donk showdown lived up to the hype. Both AWPer/rifler stars posted top-tier performances, but m0NESY's series output edged Spirit's Russian phenom.
Semifinal Result Implications
Falcons advanced to the grand final. Spirit finished 3rd-4th, worth $80,000. It was Spirit's best Major since their 2023 debut but still short of what many predicted.
Grand Final Set
Falcons would face FURIA on June 21. The two remaining teams had beaten the two top seeds. History awaited.
