HLTV Prospects May 2026: xKacpersky Tops the List of Rising CS2 Stars

HLTV's Prospects ranking for May 2026 spotlighted the next generation of CS2 talent. Topping the list: xKacpersky, described as a "Source 2 native" who began taking Counter-Strike seriously right as CS2 launched and quickly rose through community servers to the professional stage.

xKacpersky at #1

Analysts have drawn comparisons between xKacpersky's raw mechanical skill and a young s1mple. The comparison is generous — but supported by his aim consistency, movement, and clutch factor across matches HLTV analyzed for the ranking.

Age barriers

xKacpersky's biggest limitation is not skill. It's age. Most Tier-1 tournaments require competitors to be at least 16, which locks xKacpersky out of the biggest stages until his birthday. His trajectory to Tier-1 depends heavily on when tournament organizers loosen those rules or when he crosses the threshold.

Kyousuke and the top-ten hunt

Kyousuke ranked among the most exciting names on the list. He has already climbed into HLTV's public CS2 Rating 3.0 leaderboard, sitting behind names like donk, ZywOo, and m0NESY. Making the top-10 pure-skill leaderboard as a prospect is rare and speaks to his ceiling.

Ukrainian talent: r0se

Ukrainian 14-year-old Dmytro "r0se" Pankiv plays for B8 Academy and has attracted attention from top professional players despite not yet having a full HLTV.org or Liquipedia profile. His raw talent has multiple teams monitoring him for future recruitment.

Krabeni's stats jump

Krabeni posts a 1.06 rating against top-20 opponents in the last six months and 101.3 ADR in round wins. He also carries in-game leading responsibilities — a rare combination for a prospect his age.

The bigger picture

The May 2026 Prospects list confirmed something HLTV has documented all year: CS2's rising talent pipeline is deeper than at any point in the game's short history. Multiple regions are producing genuine tier-one candidates, and the age of the average rising star has dropped from 18 to closer to 15.

Next steps

June's HLTV Prospects update will reflect performance from May's tournament cycle and Cologne Major activity. Several names are already positioned to climb the rankings.
