Ahead of today's BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals semifinal in Malta, the spotlight has fallen on Astralis' pre-tournament draft-show decision: choosing MOUZ over top-ranked Team Spirit as their opponent.
How the Draft Show Worked
After the four quarterfinal victories were settled, the higher-seeded winners received the privilege of selecting their semifinal opponent from the pool of lower-seeded winners. Astralis, despite being the lowest-ranked of the four sides (#15 in HLTV's July 27 rankings), advanced with the highest seed among Friday's winners and earned the pick.
NEO's Justification
Astralis coach Filip NEO Kubski confirmed the decision was heavily influenced by IGL Rasmus HooXi Nielsen's confidence against Spirit:
"He feels confident against Spirit. Also there is a huge bounty and VRS, right? The problem is they have an early game and it's pretty late now, so that complicates things."
The reference to VRS points and the tournament bounty highlighted the calculated risk: beating Spirit would carry significantly more ranking value than dispatching MOUZ, but the late schedule against a Spirit side that opens strong on T-side made the trade-off complex.

- Astralis face MOUZ at 15:30 CEST — the second semifinal of the day
- FaZe now take on Spirit at 12:30 CEST — with donk fresh off a 42-kill performance vs Liquid
- Winners meet in the best-of-five grand final Sunday, August 2
The gamble puts Astralis on a collision course with a MOUZ side riding torzsi's momentum after the 3DMAX comeback. Should Astralis prevail, they would reach their first premier-tier grand final under NEO's coaching tenure — a milestone for a rebuild that has spent much of 2026 outside the world's top 10.
