Liquid bench siuhy after difficult spring season

Team Liquid announced on July 21 that they have benched Kamil 'siuhy' Szkaradek. The move ends the Polish IGL's tenure at Liquid after a difficult spring in which the team posted some of the worst T-side win rates in the entire tier-1 scene.

Why the bench came now

Liquid averaged among the worst T-side win rates in the entire scene through spring, and only reached the playoffs at BLAST Bounty Season 1 through the online group stage. The team then bowed out of Stage 1 of the IEM Cologne Major with a 2-3 exit, a result that internally accelerated the review process on the IGL position.

Earlier moves

The siuhy bench follows an earlier roster iteration where Liquid parted with ultimate and acquired Jorko from FOKUS on July 9. That preceded the bigger reshuffle, but wasn't enough on its own to change results.

What's next for siuhy

siuhy is expected to explore his options in the summer transfer window. As a former MOUZ IGL and one of the most respected voices in mixed-language CS2 calling, several tier-1 and elite tier-2 organizations are expected to gauge his interest.

JT to replace

Liquid moved quickly to replace him: the org officially announced JT (Ioannis Theodosiou) as the new IGL the following day, July 22 — an acquisition from Passion UA. Liquid's updated BLAST Bounty Season 2 lineup features EliGE, NAF, malbsMd, Jorko, and JT, with flashie serving as coach.

Community reception

Community reception in North American CS was mixed. Longtime EliGE fans welcomed the reset, while others questioned whether Liquid was doing enough to seriously invest in either the IGL slot or the coach position long-term. The BLAST Bounty S2 online performance would be the first data point in either direction.
