Spirit Sweep NAVI 2-0 in Stage 3 Opener at Cologne Major

Team Spirit reminded everyone why they entered the IEM Cologne Major 2026 as a Tier-1 contender, defeating Natus Vincere 2-0 in the Stage 3 opener on June 11. The match delivered exactly the kind of clean win Spirit needed after a comfortable Stage 2.

Map 1: Dust2 — 13-11

The opener on Dust2 was a nervy affair. NAVI stayed close through both halves, exploiting long control on the CT side and finding key mid rotations to steal rounds. But Spirit's discipline showed in the closing rounds, with donk hitting critical duels in the money rounds and sh1ro shutting down NAVI's late-round AWP holds.

Map 2: Anubis — 13-8

Anubis was more comfortable. Spirit's read of NAVI's default setups gave them information advantages round after round, and the second half snowballed once Spirit reached economic superiority. donk closed things out with a 3K on the T side to give Spirit map point.

Key Individuals

  • donk — Series MVP-level performance with a series 1.98 rating (2.48 on Dust2)
  • sh1ro — Steady AWP contribution across both maps
  • NAVI's b1t was the Ukrainian side's highest-rated player in defeat

What This Meant

The result put Spirit at 1-0 in Stage 3 and NAVI at 0-1 — a dangerous position for the Ukrainian side given the depth of the field. NAVI would need to string together three straight wins to advance without a slip, all in best-of-three format.

Historic Context

NAVI's Cologne 2026 attendance extended their record streak of consecutive Major appearances to 24. But the streak means little in the moment — winning matches at the Major does.
