French AWPer Mayline-Joy "ASTRA" Champliaud, the reigning HLTV Women's Player of the Year for 2025, announced on August 8 that she is moving from Counter-Strike 2 to VALORANT — a high-profile exit driven by the shrinking state of the women's CS circuit.
Why the move
ASTRA cited the practical realities: "female CS falling apart and the lack of tournaments coming up." She added that she was "missing practice and competition" and chose to transition to "a growing scene" instead.
The women's tournament pipeline effectively stopped at the end of 2025 when ESL put its Impact League circuit on hold. Since then, multiple organisations have released their female CS teams — including BIG EQUIPA, ASTRA's previous team, which paused its female project in May 2026.
