Cologne Cathedral Meets CS2: Stained Glass Mosaic Stickers Revealed

The IEM Cologne 2026 sticker art unveiled on May 22 turned heads immediately. Valve chose to pay tribute to Cologne Cathedral, one of Germany's most iconic landmarks, by rendering all Major stickers in a stained-glass mosaic aesthetic with circular medallion borders.

The design language

Each team sticker uses a stained-glass, circular medallion aesthetic. Team logos sit inside radiating geometric borders with ornate floral details, held together by simulated "metal framing" that mimics the leaded caming of real cathedral windows. Player autographs adopt the same circular shape and mosaic pattern.

The Gold tier

The most prestigious Gold-tier stickers depart from the stained-glass theme. Instead, they look like luxurious minted coins — a design choice that separates them visually from the paper, foil, and holo tiers and reinforces their status as the top rarity.

The full collection

  • Total stickers: 768 items
  • Rarity tiers: Paper, Foil, Holographic, Gold
  • Categories: Team logos and Player autographs
  • Shape: Circular (all tiers)

Community reception

The community response to the artwork was one of the most positive Major sticker reveals in recent memory. Skin YouTubers highlighted the historical connection to Cologne Cathedral, and craft artists began circulating early ideas for weapon skin pairings that would work with the stained-glass borders.

Design context

Cologne Cathedral, the Gothic masterpiece near LANXESS Arena, took more than 600 years to complete and remains one of the most photographed structures in Germany. Its towering stained-glass windows — some dating to the medieval era, others reconstructed after the Second World War — inspired the visual language Valve chose for the Major's collectibles.

The craft economy

The circular design has already sparked debate among sticker crafters. Traditional CS2 sticker crafts rely on rectangular arrangements. The circular Cologne stickers force new placements and combinations, likely producing a wave of experimental craft videos in the weeks after launch.

A love letter to Cologne

Analysts noted the design as a rare Valve moment where artwork explicitly ties itself to the host city. The stained-glass theme is one of the more memorable Major aesthetics in years.
