HLTV published the full Esports World Cup 2026 main-event group draw on August 9. The 32-team field is split into four eight-team groups, with seeding based on the July Valve Regional Standings. Highlight of the draw: Group D, immediately dubbed the group of death by the community.

Spirit, Aurora, G2, GamerLegion, Luminosity, M80, BIG, JiJieHao.
Group B
Falcons, Legacy, BetBoom, Astralis, MIBR, FaZe, Ninjas in Pyjamas, K27.
Group C
Vitality, MOUZ, FUT, B8, PARIVISION, TYLOO, Lynn Vision, 100 Thieves.
Group D — the death bracket
Natus Vincere, FURIA, 9z, The MongolZ, magic, paiN, Wildcard, 3DMAX. Four HLTV top-10 or near-top-10 sides in a single eight-team group — no forgiving matchup on the schedule.
Format & schedule
- Group stage: August 12-16 — double-elimination, opening round best-of-one, everything after that best-of-three
- Playoffs: August 19-23 — top four per group advance to single-elim, best-of-five grand final
- Total prize pool: $2,000,000 ($600K to winner + 1000 CC points, $25K MVP)
LCQ seeding quirk
The draw dropped two of the four LCQ qualifiers — BIG and JiJieHao — into the same group (A). The other two, 100 Thieves and K27, landed in C and B respectively.
