IEM Atlanta 2026 starts May 11 at the Georgia World Congress Center, the second North American stop on this year's ESL Pro Tour and the first $1 million prize pool LAN since IEM Katowice in February. Sixteen teams, eleven of them direct-invited via the global Valve Regional Standings as of February 2, with the remaining five slots filled through North American, South American, and open qualifiers.
Vitality the working favorite
Coming off the BLAST Rivals Fort Worth 3-0 sweep of NAVI and four other titles this season, Vitality enter Atlanta as the unambiguous betting favorite. ZywOo is on a 32-MVP career run; ropz has settled into the lurker role like he was born for it; mezii is closing rounds at the highest hit rate of any support player in the active circuit. The internal narrative inside Vitality has shifted from "can we sustain" to "what does dynasty discipline look like" — and the staff is coaching accordingly.
The challengers
NAVI, despite the Fort Worth final loss, remain the most likely team to break the Vitality run. Aleksib's utility calls and JL's rifling have kept them at the top of the playoff bracket all spring. FaZe under the post-NEO coaching restructure is a known unknown — the rifling looks sharper but the late-round cohesion is still volatile. Team Falcons and the karrigan-led roster start their first major LAN test under the new leadership; expect the team to peak in week two of the event regardless of group stage results.
Format and what to watch
Group stage runs May 11–14, playoffs May 15–17 with the grand final on Sunday evening Eastern. The map pool excludes Cache (which entered Competitive-only on April 29) — Active Duty rotation pending IEM Cologne. Premier maps remain in play. Watch for which teams quietly slot Mirage and Anubis as their priority picks; both have seen sharp meta shifts since Rotterdam, and group-stage prep windows have been short.
