All 32 IEM Cologne Major 2026 Teams Confirmed — FaZe Clan Misses First Major Since 2018

All 32 IEM Cologne Major 2026 Teams Confirmed — FaZe Clan Misses First Major Since 2018

The April 6 Major roster lock has come and gone, and ESL has now officially confirmed all 32 invited teams for the IEM Cologne Major 2026. The most notable name on the absentee list: FaZe Clan. After failing to qualify in the last regional cycle and undergoing a major roster shake-up (karrigan to Falcons), FaZe will not compete at the first 2026 Major — their first missed Major since 2021. Meanwhile, the field is set for the most competitive CS2 Major to date.

The 32 Confirmed Teams

European Tier-1 (Direct Stage 2 Invites — 8 teams)

Based on Valve Regional Standings (VRS), these teams skip Stage 1 entirely and enter at Stage 2:

  • Team Vitality — World #1, defending Grand Slam holders
  • Team Falcons — With karrigan now officially leading
  • Team Spirit — IEM Rio runner-up
  • MOUZ — Despite roster turbulence (Brollan returning for Major)
  • NAVI — Returning to form
  • G2 Esports — m0NESY's redemption arc
  • FURIA — FalleN's farewell Major
  • FUT Esports — Reigning PGL Bucharest champions

European Tier-2 (Stage 1 Invites — 8 teams)

  • Astralis — Need to grind through Stage 1
  • 3DMAX — French side fresh off Bucharest bronze
  • ENCE — Finnish veterans
  • Heroic — Mid-tier consistency
  • Aurora — CIS rising
  • BetBoom — CIS
  • PARIVISION — Eastern European wildcard
  • Virtus.pro — Returning to Major level

Americas (Stage 1 — 6 teams)

  • Team Liquid — NA flag bearer
  • Complexity — Rebuild project
  • MIBR — Brazilian fixture
  • RED Canids — Brazilian challenger
  • Legacy — Brazilian rising
  • Imperial — Brazilian veterans

Asia-Pacific (Stage 1 — 5 teams)

  • The MongolZ — Mongolian heroes
  • TYLOO — Chinese veterans
  • FlyQuest — Australian region
  • Lynn Vision — Chinese rising
  • NomadS — Asian challenger

Wildcards (Stage 1 — 5 teams)

  • EYEBALLERS — Swedish underdog favorites
  • FOKUS — European mid-tier
  • Wildcard — Mixed roster
  • Inner Circle — Northern European
  • BC.Game — s1mple's project

The FaZe Story

FaZe Clan's absence from the IEM Cologne Major is the headline storyline. The org's failure to qualify is the result of a perfect storm:

  • Underperformance through Q1 2026 across multiple events
  • VRS ranking slip out of guaranteed Stage 1 territory
  • Failed regional qualifier in early April
  • karrigan's departure to Falcons mid-cycle, accelerating the existential crisis

This is FaZe's first missed Major since the ELEAGUE Boston 2018 Major — eight years of consecutive Major appearances ending. For an organization with FaZe's brand recognition and historical CS pedigree, missing a Major is a significant blow to sponsor relationships and ranking points. The path back to the next Major (likely IEM Cologne fall version or year-end) requires a very strong recovery.

BetBoom Uncertainty

The one team whose lineup is not 100% finalized is BetBoom. Internal sources indicate that the org is still negotiating a roster move that could affect their final five-player Major lineup. Valve's roster lock cutoff has passed, so any change must be a substitute slot — same as MOUZ's Brollan situation. Expect official confirmation within 7-10 days.

What This Means for the Tournament

Stage 1 (June 2-5) — The Grinder

16 Stage 1 teams compete. 8 advance to Stage 2. With BO1 opening matches, single-map upsets are likely. Watch for tier-2 EU and Brazilian teams to make noise.

Stage 2 (June 6-9) — The Real Field

The 8 directly-invited teams join the 8 Stage 1 survivors. 16 teams in Swiss format. 8 advance to Stage 3. This is where established tier-1 teams typically consolidate their seeding.

Stage 3 (June 12-16) — The Historic All-BO3

For the first time at any CS Major, all Stage 3 matches are best-of-three. 8 teams compete; 6 advance to playoffs.

Playoffs (June 18-21)

6 teams. Top 2 seeds get bye to semifinals. BO3 quarter/semi, BO5 grand final. Lanxess Arena, Cologne.
