About AK-47 | Case Hardened
The AK-47 | Case Hardened is the most pattern-driven AK in CS2. While Wild Lotus and Fire Serpent have predictable per-skin values, Case Hardened pricing depends entirely on the unique blue-pattern distribution. Standard FN trades at ~$1,200, but documented "Blue Gem" specimens have sold for $400,000+ — making this the highest-volatility skin in the entire AK market.
Design
Case Hardened renders the AK's receiver, magazine, and stock in random metal-bluing patterns — blue, gold, and steel-gray distributions determined by pattern index. Some specimens display 90%+ blue across both receiver sides (Tier-1 Blue Gem), others have minimal blue with primarily gold-steel coloring. Every individual AK Case Hardened is visually unique.
Blue Gem Hierarchy
The AK Case Hardened "Blue Gem" tier system: Pattern 661 (legendary, $400K+), Pattern 670 ("Heaven Blue", $200K+), Pattern 168 ("The Tactical", $100K+), then progressively lower tiers down to standard pattern at $1,200. Pattern grading is a specialized sub-discipline, with verified pattern photographers and authentication services.
Market Position
AK Case Hardened is the most-traded high-end AK by volume — collectors are constantly buying, grading, and re-selling pattern variants. Through 2025-2026 it has appreciated +22% per year on average, with Tier-1 patterns appreciating much faster (+40-60%). For traders, Case Hardened is the premier alpha-generation skin in CS2.
