About ★ Bowie Knife | Case Hardened
The ★ Bowie Knife | Case Hardened in Minimal Wear is the pattern hunter's preferred research tier on the Bowie line. Released with the Gamma Case (June 2016), Case Hardened on Bowie offers what its competitors don't: a wide single-edge blade that displays oxidation patterns at maximum readable size.
Why MW over FT for blue gems
Float around 0.07-0.13 (MW range) preserves the crisp boundary between blue and yellow oxidation zones — critical for verifying claimed Tier-1 or Tier-2 blue gem seeds. At FT, oxidation softens at the edges, making it harder to confirm seed quality from screenshots. Serious blue-gem buyers default to MW for purchase, FT for screening.
Reading a Bowie Case Hardened
The play face is the side opposite the maker's mark engraving. A Tier-1 Bowie blue gem has near-pure blue oxidation on the play face — >90% blue coverage with minimal yellow. Tier-2 allows 60-80% blue. Tier-3 is anything noticeably blue-dominant. Below that, you're in generic territory at the base price.
