Released in May 2018 with the Operation Hydra update, the Butterfly Knife brought balisong (folding-blade) flipping animations to Counter-Strike for the first time, and the Doppler finish — already legendary on Karambits and M9 Bayonets — instantly became its premier collector grade.
Design
Doppler renders the blade in marbled metallic phases — Sapphire (blue), Ruby (red), Black Pearl, and Phase 1-4 (green/purple gradients). Each phase has distinct identity and dramatically different market value. The marbled effect catches light in motion, and on a Butterfly Knife the constant flipping animation maximizes that visual impact more than any other knife type.
