About ★ Karambit | Case Hardened
The ★ Karambit | Case Hardened is the highest-volatility Karambit in the market. Where Doppler and Fade have predictable phase/pattern hierarchies, Case Hardened pricing depends entirely on the unique blue-pattern distribution on each individual specimen — making this the most pattern-driven knife in CS2. Standard FN trades at ~$2,400, but specific top-pattern specimens sell for $25,000+.
Design
Case Hardened renders the blade in a metal-bluing pattern — random blue, gold, and steel-gray distributions across the surface. Each individual blade has unique color placement determined by its pattern index. Some specimens are 90% blue (extremely rare and valuable), others have minimal blue with mostly gold-steel tones (common, low-tier). The unpredictability is the entire collector appeal.
Blue Gem Hierarchy
The community has established a tier system: Tier-1 "Full Blue Gem" (90%+ blue, both sides — extremely rare, $25K+), Tier-2 "Blue Gem Tier" (~70% blue dominant, $8-15K), Tier-3 "Blue Pattern" (~50% blue visible, $3-5K), Tier-4 standard (mixed colors, $2,400). Pattern numbers like 387 and 661 are documented top-tier examples.
Market Position
Case Hardened is the most-speculated knife finish in CS2. Pattern grading has matured into a sub-discipline of skin collecting, with specialized brokers, photographic verification, and dedicated trading communities. For traders, identifying undervalued patterns is the primary alpha source. Active FN supply: ~4,800 specimens — but only ~50 are Tier-1+.
