The third day of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 3 on June 13 saw the first teams officially book their tickets to the LANXESS Arena. With everyone now at 2-1, 1-2, or the edge cases, the pressure was on.
Vitality's Response
The reigning world #1 needed to answer their shocking loss to 9z. They did — beating MOUZ to keep their tournament alive. ZywOo went to work with the AWP, and while the series wasn't clean, Vitality escaped with a 2-1 win that reset their momentum.
First Playoff Qualifiers
Multiple teams reached the magical 3-1 record on Day 3 and officially advanced to the playoffs. Team Spirit continued to look bulletproof, going 3-1 without much drama. Aurora Gaming, FURIA, and a fourth team also locked in.
The 9z Question
9z entered Day 3 at 2-0 needing one more win. The Argentinian miracle could turn into an official Major playoff berth. All they had to do was survive one more BO3.
Elimination Bracket
The 0-3 spots were finalized. Multiple direct invitees went home early — a reminder that Stage 3 doesn't discriminate. NAVI hovered dangerously at 1-2, one loss from Major elimination and the end of their 24-straight Major appearance streak (extended by mere fact of qualification).
Vitality Look-Ahead
Vitality's win over MOUZ meant they still had a path to playoffs, but at 2-2 they now needed a Day 4 or Day 5 win to clinch. In BO3 format, any team can take them out.
