Aurora Gaming's Cinderella run came to a decisive end at the IEM Cologne Major 2026 semifinal. FURIA Esports won 2-0 on Dust2 (13-9) and Nuke (13-4) in a dominant performance that put the Brazilians into the grand final.
Map 1: Dust2 — FURIA 13-9
Dust2 was Aurora's chance to establish a foothold. FURIA didn't allow it. KSCERATO topped the scoreboard with 18 kills, and yuurih added 17. Their combined 35 kills on a single 22-round map is the kind of production that ends series.
Aurora's XANTARES was Aurora's top performer but never quite reached the ceiling he'd shown against BetBoom on Nuke in the QF.
Map 2: Nuke — FURIA 13-4
The second map was arguably the most one-sided of the Cologne playoffs. FURIA's Nuke defense was airtight — Aurora couldn't hit A executes, couldn't hold ramp for long, and couldn't clear yard without losing multiple bodies. FURIA's T half was ruthless.
The 13-4 scoreline flattened Aurora's grand-final hopes in about 40 minutes of playtime.
The Star Trio
- KSCERATO: series MVP-level performance
- yuurih: high-volume fragger
- molodoy: quiet but effective AWP
Aurora's Legacy
Aurora finished 3rd-4th at their first ever CS2 Major playoffs. $80,000 in the bank, plus VRS momentum, plus international relevance. It was a run to build on.
The Final Set
FURIA vs Falcons on June 21 was set. FalleN's first grand final since 2018 awaited.
