The Brazilian squad paiN Gaming pulled off the day's headline upset with a convincing 2-0 victory over FaZe Clan. paiN dominated both halves of the opening picks:
- Dust2: paiN 13-9 (9-3 CT-side first half)
- Anubis: paiN 13-8 (9-3 first half)
Star player snow put up the highest rating of the match at 1.47, leading paiN to the upper-bracket semifinal and pushing FaZe into the lower bracket immediately.
Vitality dispatches BC.Game
On the other side of the bracket, Vitality defeated BC.Game 2-0 in their opening series, winning Mirage 13-7 and Dust2 13-10. The reigning BLAST Rivals champions controlled the pace throughout both halves, with BC.Game briefly showing resistance on Dust2 before Vitality's experience closed things out.

BetBoom Team beat B8 in a competitive 2-1 series, sending the Ukrainian squad into the lower bracket for their first knockout series of the event.
