IEM Rio 2026 Quarterfinals: Vitality Crush NAVI 2-0 Behind ZywOo's 2.53 Rating, Spirit Sweep MOUZ on tN1R Carry

Both IEM Rio 2026 playoff quarterfinals were decided in straight-map sweeps on Friday, April 17. Team Vitality answered every question about their post-Falcons form by crushing NAVI 2-0 behind a historic ZywOo performance. On the other half of the bracket, Team Spirit swept MOUZ 2-0 thanks to an out-of-nowhere career series from support rifler tN1R. The semifinals on Saturday are now locked: Falcons vs Spirit and Vitality vs FURIA.

Vitality 2-0 NAVI — ZywOo's 2.53-Rating Statement

If there was any doubt that the Falcons loss had shaken Vitality's foundation, ZywOo erased it in roughly 20 rounds of Mirage. The French superstar ended map one with 30 kills, 7 deaths, and a 2.53 HLTV rating — one of the highest-rated individual performances at any tier-1 event in 2026. NAVI's star w0nderful, normally able to trade fire with any AWPer in the world, was limited to 14 kills and consistently lost duels to ZywOo's positioning and timing.

Map one on Mirage ended 13-4 in Vitality's favor. The CT half was particularly brutal — Vitality took a 9-3 lead at halftime, then closed out the T side in just four rounds. ZywOo was responsible for the opening kill in 11 of those 13 rounds.

Map two on Nuke saw NAVI's best showing of the series. They took an early CT-side lead and kept the score close through the first half, but Vitality's T-side — led by a apEX captain's performance with a 1.42 rating — cracked open outside control and won the map 13-6. The Vitality IGL took on an atypical fragging role and delivered when the team needed it.

The result sends Vitality to the semifinal against home favorites FURIA, and the message from the team is clear: the Falcons loss was an anomaly, not the start of a decline.

Spirit 2-0 MOUZ — tN1R's Career Day

The other quarterfinal produced a different kind of storyline. Spirit's donk, the presumed star for the team and reportedly unwell earlier in the week, was simply not needed. Support rifler tN1R posted a 2.15 series rating and topped Spirit's scoreboard on both maps — easily his best tier-1 performance of his career.

Map one on Dust2 ended 13-5. Spirit raced to a 4-0 opening that put MOUZ on the back foot. By halftime Spirit led 10-2, and the CT-to-T transition closed the map quickly. tN1R had 18 kills on the map alone.

Map two on Mirage finished 13-8. Spirit jumped to a 9-3 halftime lead with tN1R again dominating. MOUZ put up more resistance in the second half but never closed the gap. Chopper's IGL decisions were sharp throughout, particularly on the Mirage CT side where Spirit showed unusual aggression for their style.

donk's quiet series (1.04 rating, notably below his usual output) raised eyebrows, but the team's victory came without him being needed to hard-carry. If Spirit can get both donk and tN1R firing simultaneously, they are a genuine threat to Falcons in the semifinal.

Semifinal Matchups Locked

Saturday April 18 playoff schedule:

  • Falcons vs Spirit — 13:00 EDT. Falcons are the upper bracket winners; Spirit comes from the lower bracket.
  • Vitality vs FURIA — 16:15 EDT. FURIA have home crowd advantage at Farmasi Arena. Vitality have ZywOo in peak form.

What to Watch in the Semis

  • Vitality revenge arc — after losing to Falcons, Vitality can now rebuild momentum through the lower bracket. A deep run here would be especially satisfying.
  • FURIA + FalleN emotional factor — Brazilian legend FalleN announced his retirement plans earlier on April 17 (separate article). The semifinal will be his first match after the announcement, in front of a home crowd that adores him.
  • Falcons kyxsan farewell — the Macedonian IGL is likely playing his final tournament with Falcons before karrigan joins. Performance pressure is inverted — the less he has to lose, the freer he plays.
  • donk health status — Spirit's ceiling is enormous if he returns to form. The MOUZ win came without him firing.

The winner of Falcons vs Spirit meets the winner of Vitality vs FURIA in the grand final on Sunday, April 19 (BO5, Jeunesse Arena). With the $100K Vitality bounty still active, Sunday has the potential to be the most-watched CS2 grand final of 2026.
