Rio Major EU RMR Field Confirmed — 24 Teams Locked for Stockholm August 21-27, 8 Slots Available After Pre-Qualified Removal

BLAST published the confirmed 24-team field for the Europe RMR qualifier July 21 evening. Stockholm Fryshuset Arena hosts August 21-27. Pre-qualified teams (The MongolZ, Vitality, Spirit, NAVI) are excluded — 24 teams competing for 8 Rio Major slots.

The 24-team EU RMR field

Top seeds (auto-qualifying based on BLAST ranking)

  1. MOUZ — post-Spring-Finals SF, expected top-2 finish
  2. Falcons — post-Cologne group + Spring Finals QF, snappi-led recovery arc
  3. FaZe — reunion-era roster, two consecutive tier-1 QF exits vs MongolZ
  4. GamerLegion — post-Spring Finals underdog moment delivered
  5. Astralis — post-scandal restructure return, new signings jabbi + raalz
  6. Aurora — Turkish tier-1 recovery, post-Katowice 2026 SF
  7. 3DMAX — French tier-1 recovery, back to top-10 EU ranking
  8. Heroic — Danish tier-1 with blameF signing rumor circulation

Middle seeds (10 teams via BLAST regional qualifier July 15-19)

  • ENCE, Sinners, Nemiga, Nexus, Ninjas in Pyjamas, HEROIC-2 (academy), Copenhagen Flames, MOUZ-2 (academy), fnatic, Movistar KOI

Bottom seeds (6 teams via open qualifier July 22-24)

  • Open qualifier ongoing — final 6 teams confirmed post-open-qualifier close

Format

  • Swiss stage: 24 teams → 16 (5-round Swiss, standard elimination)
  • Playoff bracket: 16 → 8 via single-elimination Bo3
  • Qualification: Top-8 to Rio Major
  • Seed for Rio Major Group Stage: RMR final placement determines Rio Major group seed (top-2 EU RMR get most favourable Rio Major group seeds)

The Astralis return storyline

Astralis return to competition at the EU RMR after the May 2026 management scandal (resolved July 20 per our earlier coverage). Their EU RMR performance is a first-look for the restructured roster (gla1ve, dev1ce, stavn, jabbi, raalz). Danish CS2 community expects Astralis to fight for top-8 finish — a solid Rio Major qualification would validate the restructure.

The blameF Heroic rumor

Multiple Nordic-adjacent sources confirmed to Nordic esports outlets July 21 that blameF is finalizing a Heroic contract, expected to be announced pre-EU-RMR. If confirmed, Heroic reunite blameF with cadiaN (Heroic IGL) — a partnership that produced 2 tier-1 titles together in 2020-2021. This would materially elevate Heroic's EU RMR seed positioning.

What we're watching

  • MOUZ vs FaZe head-to-head potential: Both in top-3 EU RMR seeds. Head-to-head in later Swiss rounds likely.
  • Astralis return performance: Post-scandal legitimacy test — how well the new signings integrate under IGL gla1ve.
  • Aleksib potential signing: Post-NAVI release + kingfisher trial conclusion — Aleksib could sign with any tier-1 EU RMR roster before August 21 opening. Astralis + Heroic are speculated destinations.
  • Open qualifier tier-2 upsets: 6 open qualifier teams — historic pattern says 1-2 punch above tier-2 ranking in EU RMR Swiss.
