Stage 4 Cycle Preview — BLAST Spring Finals, PGL Astana 2, and the Road to BLAST Rio Major 2026

With IEM Cologne 2026 closed, the Stage 4 cycle opens with three Tier-1 events on the calendar between now and the next Major. The MongolZ enter as world #1 and defending Major champions; Vitality look for the Stage 4 trophy that evaded them at Cologne.

BLAST Spring Finals 2026 — July 14-19, Lisbon

The first post-Cologne Tier-1 event. Eight teams in a Bo3 single-elimination bracket at the Altice Arena, Lisbon. Confirmed attendees:

  • Vitality (defending BLAST Rotterdam champions, world #2)
  • The MongolZ (world #1, defending Major champions)
  • Spirit (donk-led core unchanged)
  • NAVI (w0nderful + Aleksib core, post-Cologne 2026 retool)
  • MOUZ (frozen-led, Cologne 2026 SF appearance)
  • Falcons (NiKo carry, post-Cologne reset)
  • FaZe (returning to Tier-1 after missing IEM Cologne 2026 stage)
  • Astralis (Cologne 2026 Stage 1 exit, rebuilding)

BLAST Spring Finals prize pool: $400,000. The event is the first ranking re-test for the post-Cologne 2026 world rankings.

PGL Astana 2 — August 18-31, Astana

32-team open qualifier feeding into 16-team main event. PGL Astana 2 is the continuation of the May 2026 Astana run that Spirit won. The MongolZ are expected to attend as defending Major champions with seeded entry. Vitality, NAVI, and MOUZ confirmed. Open qualifier registration runs July 1-20.

Prize pool: $1,250,000 — the largest non-Major Tier-1 event of 2026. The Astana 2 trophy carries significant world-ranking weight (8K HLTV points) and is the last Major-prep event before BLAST Rio.

BLAST Rio Major 2026 — October 14-26, Rio de Janeiro

The third 2026 Major, hosted at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The format mirrors Cologne 2026 — three stages (Stage 1 Swiss 32→16, Stage 2 Swiss 16→8, Stage 3 Champions bracket 8). Prize pool: $1,500,000 (the largest CS2 Major prize pool to date).

RMR qualification windows: Stage 4 cycle RMR (Regional Major Rankings) events run mid-July to mid-September across EU, NA, SA, Asia, and Oceania regions. The MongolZ + Vitality + Spirit + NAVI + MOUZ + Falcons + paiN + Aurora have direct invites as Cologne 2026 Champions stage attendees. Remaining 24 slots distributed via RMR.

Cycle storylines to watch

  • MongolZ defending dynasty — Can The MongolZ sustain world #1 + defend Major champion title? BLAST Spring Finals is the first stress test.
  • Vitality redemption — Two straight Major silvers. ZywOo's Stage 4 carry is the most-watched individual storyline.
  • Falcons / FaZe reset — Both rosters had disappointing Cologne 2026 stages and will use Stage 4 to rebuild bracket-favourite status.
  • Brazilian home crowd factor at Rio Major — Last Brazilian Major was IEM Rio 2022 (FURIA-led semifinals). The 2026 Rio Major home crowd is expected to elevate paiN, MIBR, and FURIA performance through bracket-seed home-field advantage.

Capsule cycle outlook

BLAST Spring Finals does not have a capsule cycle (BLAST tournaments use a different sticker model). PGL Astana 2 sticker capsules expected to release early August with the 32 open-qualifier teams. BLAST Rio Major capsule cycle starts mid-September.
