About ★ Bowie Knife | Case Hardened
The ★ Bowie Knife | Case Hardened in Field-Tested is one of the more accessible Case Hardened entries in CS2 — and a legitimate pattern-hunting target for traders who can't justify a Karambit or AK budget. Released with the Gamma Case in June 2016, the Bowie Knife is a single-edge fixed-blade design that gives Case Hardened's blue-and-yellow oxidized steel finish an unusually broad surface to display on.
The Case Hardened pattern lottery
Case Hardened is procedurally generated — every seed produces a different distribution of blue and yellow oxidation across the blade. The most prized seeds, called blue gems, concentrate near-pure blue oxidation on the play face with minimal yellow contamination. On Bowie Knife specifically, several blue-gem seeds (Tier 1) have traded for 8-15× generic FT prices in private sales over the past two years.
FT as the pattern-research tier
FT is the condition where pattern hunters do most of their research. Float around 0.20-0.25 keeps the play-face oxidation clearly readable while the price floor stays low enough that buying multiple seeds for inspection is feasible. Many traders cycle through 5-10 FT Bowie Case Hardened units before committing to an MW or FN copy.
