About ★ Karambit | Fade
The ★ Karambit | Fade is the original prestige knife of Counter-Strike. Released in August 2013 as part of the launch knife collection, Karambit Fade is the skin that established the Karambit as the iconic CS knife and the Fade gradient as the canonical knife finish. Twelve years later, it remains the reference point for what "expensive Karambit" means in collector culture.
Design
Fade gives the curved Karambit blade a smooth purple-pink-yellow gradient with no pattern variation. The curve of the Karambit creates a unique visual — the gradient flows from heel to point, accentuating the blade's distinctive shape. The handle ring (used for spinning animations) maintains the same gradient continuation, making this one of the most cohesive Karambit finishes available.
Pattern Index Premiums
Karambit Fade pattern variation determines the gradient's coverage on the blade. "100% Fade" specimens (no green visible, full pink-purple-yellow transition) trade at +30-50% premiums over standard. Pattern 412 is the documented top-tier specimen, with verified sales above $4,500 FN. Standard pattern Karambit Fade FN trades at ~$2,500.
Market Position
Karambit Fade is the foundational prestige Karambit. Through 2025-2026 it has appreciated +13% per year — slow and steady, characteristic of mature high-end items with established demand. Active FN supply: ~3,200 specimens. For collectors building a "complete Karambit prestige set" (Fade, Doppler, Case Hardened, Crimson Web), the Fade is universally the starting piece.
